23XI Racing driver Bubba Wallace faced a major setback during a post-race interview after the Enjoy Illinois 300 at World Wide Technology Raceway.

Wallace started the race from P14 but quickly showed promise, navigating the field to finish a strong P6 in the first stage of the event.

He truly hit his stride in the second stage, taking the lead and dominating the track for a total of 73 laps to secure the stage win.

However, his dominating performance was cut short by a frustrating gearbox issue on a restart, causing him to lose control of the lead.

Despite the mechanical problem, Wallace showed resilience and managed to steer clear of a crash, ultimately crossing the finish line in a respectable P8.

The race was ultimately won by Bubba's close friend and team owner Denny Hamlin, who led 75 laps on his way to victory lane.

Wallace's playoff berth came from his victory at the Brickyard 400 earlier in the season, and he currently ranks fourth in the Cup Series points table.

With one win, four top-fives, and 12 top-tens in 28 starts, Wallace has shown consistent performance as he continues his championship hunt.
